Self-Assessment
According to the Strengths Test 2.0 from Gallup, created by Tom Rath in 2007, my top five strengths include Achiever, Empathy, Learner, Communication, and Discipline. I consider myself to be a very hard worker with an established work ethic. I think my kindness and empathy allow me to work well with others. When working, I like specific and clear directions- I am very thorough and determined to create great work! I usually like to start projects early to give myself ample time to edit anything.
I can get stressed or feel overwhelmed if I feel as though I do not have a clear idea of the project or assignment, but if I can have the right people in my corner to clarify any questions I may have then I can get down to business! I like to ask questions to ensure that I am producing my best work. I believe my personable skills such as empathy and communication, along with my work skills such as achiever, discipline, and learner will help me to be the best occupational therapist I can be! I will listen to and take the time to understand others and I will work hard to come up with the most meaningful interventions for my clients.
Upon completing one full year of my OTD program, I believe my strengths have helped me along the way. I have learned more about my determination and will to succeed in my program. I am beginning to learn the patterns and what works best for me in order to thrive in OT school. I'm looking forward to discovering how my strengths and interests influence my fieldwork and capstone experiences this year and beyond!
